About

Questioning, with care

Origins of Belief is a place to investigate the history of religion openly: its texts, institutions, evidence, and ideas.

I

Evidence

We distinguish what sources show, what scholars infer, and what remains speculation, and we label each clearly.

II

Independence

We are not affiliated with any religious or anti-religious organization, and we neither promote nor attack any faith.

III

Respect

Belief is personal. We treat traditions and the people who hold them with care, even while asking hard questions.

IV

Uncertainty

Many questions have no settled answer. Saying “we don't know” is part of honest inquiry.

Research and review

Curated sample investigations remain labeled demonstration content. Live investigations use retrieved material and are labeled AI-assisted, not editor-verified. A matching citation excerpt is not independent fact-checking. Published research records follow a separate editorial review process; AI results are never automatically published there. Saved investigations and Belief Compass answers remain on your device.
